Friends and Family, Propsect Park Events has been here for Almost 9 years. Some people believe we are part of the Boro. We are not... But, we also voice your concerns to those who matter. Over the last year, I (Chuck) have received a staggering number of complaints at every event. I assure you, this doesn't go unnoticed. Over the events of the 4th of July... The complaints drastically increased! I want to take a minute to point out a few things. 1st and foremost - I missed the hot dogs too. But, c'mon, were the pastries that bad? NOPE... Let me explain one of the driving factors behind the NO HOT DOGS this year... There were only 4 people in the 4th of July Association this year! that's right FOUR people get the credit for making thousands enjoy their day, Both at the fireworks and the park. Not a single person has the right to complain without offering a helping hand. See, there was no one to tend to a grill and make hot dogs this year so they had to offer something precooked. What good would come of a hot dog that you had to wait an hour for? and ALL of the money made goes to next years events. ITS A VOLUNTARY POSITION. 2nd - Prospect Park Events is a voluntary page. We receive complaints because we have been around a while and made it work. The page was made somewhere around 9 years ago in an effort to bring the community together, That vision is still here and isn't going anywhere. We have 3 administrators now. 1 from Prospect Park and 2 from Tinicum and we are looking for Admins from surrounding boros. This is now a team effort.. 3rd - We are making a conscious decision to not share complaints and negativity, I admin several pages where complaints are posted daily, well, it has no place here. This is a community building forum. We do not do this to hide our flaws, but rather to not gloat on them, to just move on! If you are interested in helping out in any of the projects or committees in Prospect Park, I assure you, they wil let you! We are not guaranteed an eventful holiday, It's given to us by those who volunteer! Wanted to share a little something from yesterday's 4th of July celebration. While taking a break from my kids, I mean the sun, I witnessed a Prospect Park Police Officer allow a small group of children to check out his police car. They were very excited and took their time while he stood by patiently waiting for their excitement to end. What he did next I am sure meant more to them than getting to play police officer for a few minutes. He gave them each a dollar to get a drink when they told him they were thirsty.
